Landskapet \u00e4r kuperat med en markant floddal som floden Thay har eroderat ut i landskapet med sitt slingrande lopp. Bergen och dalsluttningarna \u00e4r t\u00e4ckta av \u00e4dell\u00f6vskogar och h\u00e4r finns \u00e4ven inslag av \u00e4ngsmarker och torr\u00e4ngar p\u00e5 kalkberggrund. V\u00e4xt- och djurlivet \u00e4r rikt med m\u00e5nga s\u00e4llsynta arter. Vid mitt bes\u00f6k s\u00e5g jag bland annat Esculapsnok som h\u00e4r har sin nordligaste utbredning. Ett bes\u00f6kscenter ligger ovanf\u00f6r staden Hardegg som \u00e4r \u00d6sterrikes minsta med bara 80 bofasta inv\u00e5nare. Det \u00e4r l\u00e4tt att passera bron i byn till Tjeckien och vandra i de b\u00e5da nationalparkerna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\"
