Byn var fram till 1950-talet helt isolerade i bergen utan v\u00e4gf\u00f6rbindelse och hade tack vare detta b\u00e4ttre st\u00e5tt emot f\u00f6r\u00e4ndringar. Idag \u00e4r byn skyddad som v\u00e4rldsarv och ligger mycket vackert i en dalg\u00e5ng med risf\u00e4lt omgiven av h\u00f6ga berg. Det finns en utsiktsplats i s\u00f6dra delen av byn d\u00e4r man har fin \u00f6verblick \u00f6ver dalen.
