Ans\u00f6kan kan g\u00f6ras via kejserliga hovets hemsida. Det var intressanta att f\u00e5 komma in och se de olika byggnaderna och delar av tr\u00e4dg\u00e5rden och h\u00f6ra ber\u00e4ttelserna men hela turen p\u00e5 dryga timmen var som att bli kringf\u00f6st som en f\u00e5rskock av vakterna. Vi vandrade bara p\u00e5 de stora v\u00e4garna och fick egentligen bara se n\u00e5gra fasader. Guidningen h\u00e5lls p\u00e5 japanska men vi utl\u00e4ndska bes\u00f6kare fick en ljudguide med engelsk beskrivning. Det gamla palatset brann upp under bombningarna under andra v\u00e4rldskriget och det nya representativa palatset byggdes p\u00e5 1960-talet i en modernistisk stil med viss inspiration fr\u00e5n traditionell japansk byggnadstradition. P\u00e5 omr\u00e5det finns ocks\u00e5 kvar tv\u00e5 tornbyggnader fr\u00e5n den ursprungliga anl\u00e4ggningen. Guidningen inleds med en informativ film om palatset och omr\u00e5det samt dess historia.
