Det \u00e4r mark\u00e4garen som sj\u00e4lv f\u00f6reslagit reservatsbildning vilket godk\u00e4nts av l\u00e4nsstyrelsen. Omr\u00e5det \u00e4r till st\u00f6rsta delen skogskl\u00e4dd med \u00e4dell\u00f6vskog och delar av omr\u00e5det best\u00e5r av gammal bokskog. Det finns ocks\u00e5 mindre rester av betesmark med h\u00e4vdgynnad flora som dock inte betas. Topografin \u00e4r sm\u00e5kuperad med k\u00e4rr i svackorna med rik sumpskog. R\u00f6rums s\u00f6dra \u00e5 flyter genom omr\u00e5det med en fin naturlig \u00e5str\u00e4cka. En del d\u00f6d ved b\u00f6rjar upptr\u00e4da i omr\u00e5det men framf\u00f6r allt har reservatet potential f\u00f6r restaurering och att utveckla h\u00f6ga naturv\u00e4rden p\u00e5
