V\u00e4xj\u00f6 kommun s\u00e5g m\u00f6jligheterna att utveckla n\u00e4romr\u00e5det s\u00f6der om stationen till bost\u00e4der och kontor genom att f\u00e5 tillg\u00e5ng till en del av bang\u00e5rdsomr\u00e5det samt att bygga p\u00e5 sluttningen upp mot j\u00e4rnv\u00e4gsgatan. Resultatet har blivit en t\u00e4t stadsbyggnad med slutna kvarter och h\u00f6ga fasader ut mot stationsomr\u00e5det. Omr\u00e5det \u00e4r mycket attraktivt med n\u00e4rheten till stationen och centrala staden. H\u00e4r finns sm\u00e5lands museum, nya torg och m\u00e5nga kontor blandade med bost\u00e4der. Omr\u00e5det binder samman staden och skapar mer stadsm\u00e4ssighet kring stationen som blir ett allt viktigare nav i staden. Ett nytt kommunhus planeras i anslutning till stationen p\u00e5 norra sidan av sp\u00e5ren.<\/p>\n
